Happy I could replace a part, but…

I slipped on a wet rock recently, went down, and broke a pole. I have purchased five sets of these poles (two sets for me). I really like that they are 100% carbon. But they’re not. The part that broke was plastic. So I am thrilled that I could repair the pole, but not so thrilled that a plastic part on my 100% carbon pole broke, rendering the pole useless. The math is a bit iffy, too. The repair part cost $12, and they charged $7 for shipping. So $19 to repair one pole, when a set of new poles runs about $79. In any event, I have two good poles now, and it’s all good. Happy hikimg!

Thanks for your feedback, Melville! I'm glad you were able to find replacement parts for your broken pole. We understand where you're coming from and did want to clarify that 100% Carbon Fiber is specific to the pole material and construction, not the flip lock & bolt. Since a lot of horizontal tension is typically placed on those parts they tend to be stronger being plastic & metal.

That being said, I've never thought about making those pieces from carbon fiber...but we will look into it!

We'll also look into our math (we're hikers, not mathematicians) because I want to make sure the replacement parts are a no-brainer! We don't want you purchasing a new set when you can easily and affordable replace a piece.

Thankful for replacements

I’m hard on hiking poles so much so I use my aluminum ones for the bottom section and carbon fiber for middle and top. It’s cool that I still mostly use the original components with sections I have replaced.

LOVE how resourceful this is! It sounds like you've made a *super* durable, yet still lightweight combo!

Deana Stock

I just used my replacement section on my poles this week, hiking McAfee Knob and Crabtree Falls in Virginia. I’m very happy with the performance. The poles were great!

Hi Deana! Happy to hear that your poles are back in working order! Happy Hiking!

Marmot Mischief!

I recently had Marmots chew through my one pole strap and on the cork handles of both my hiking poles during a backpack trip this summer. Hiker Hunger Outfitters provided excellent customer service and sent me brand new replacements for the north end of my poles for only shipping costs. How awesome is that! They fit like a charm and look brand new again (well, except for the mud on the south end of the poles!) Love this company! They stand by their products and so do I!

HI Susan! Well, we're glad your poles are back in working order! We know how you love your poles and we're happy to hear that you can take them out with you on your next adventure! Stay safe and Happy Hiking!
